Annie Hutchinson (b. 1994) is a contemporary British painter and printmaker based in Hastings, East Sussex. From her studio near the coast, Annie paints what she sees in her everyday life; objects in her home, views through windows, seascapes, boats, buildings. At the core of her practice is the grounding act of looking and noticing. She works from direct observational sketches, memory and feeling. Annie favours definitive, simple compositions with an exploratory, associative approach to colour. She is interested in how painting can bring out both the sense and strangeness of familiar things.

Annie studied Architecture at the University of Cambridge and began painting full-time shortly after graduating. She is self-taught as an artist but her design education continually informs the attentiveness towards space and form in her work.
